Data from New Spanish Network

24 Apr 2013

In order to fulfill new international requirements for tsunami detection the Spanish authority Puertos del Estado with the efforts of Begona Perez has recently completed the renovation of their tide gauge network. Originally composing 13 SRD acoustic gauges together with 4 Aanderaa pressure sensors the newly established REDMAR network (RED de MAReografos) contains 35 MIROS radar sensors positioned all around the Spanish coast including several gauges in the Canary and Balearic islands. The REDMAR network supplies real-time sea level data and will generate historic time series for future coastal and harbour engineering design. For details of the development of the network see paper B. Perez et al., ‘Overlapping sea level time series measured using different technologies: an example from the REDMAR Spanish network’.
