Bruce Douglas

PSMSL are sad to hear that Bruce Douglas died on 28 January 2026 at the age of 87.
Bruce was an engaging and knowledgeable member of the sea level community who played major roles in obtaining and analysing altimeter and tide gauge data. His papers on sea level rise and acceleration in the Journal of Geophysical Research, based on PSMSL data, were some of the most-referenced sea level papers at the time. He also had links to PSMSL and BODC through his directorship of NODC, now part of NCEI.
